What People Say

Here are a few examples of the regular feedback I receive. The anonymous parents are happy for their email to be passed on by way of a reference.

(Feb 2019) Anonymous adult, 28“I have been working with Marie for a while. In that time she has been an incredible mentor to me. She is kind, patient, non-judgemental and most of all supportive. Without Marie I would not now be a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Her positive attitude and gentle encouragement have helped me be kind to myself, be more relaxed, patient and happy. Marie has helped me re-connect with my ‘True self’ and that thoughts come and go but, whatever they are, I am ok! I personally cannot rate Marie highly enough. Now when I realise I am stuck in a thought storm, I take a deep breath and smile and let them wash over. I don’t let them affect me as they are only thoughts and cannot hurt me. 5*+ from me.”

(Dec 2018) Kailem Gittens, 18: “My time with Marie has helped me in ways a couple of months ago I thought would be unimaginable. She has ‘guided’ me back to my true helpful and caring self and I honestly couldn’t be any happier, she has ‘guided’ me into thinking more positively and to be more open and understanding of others and overall I’m glad I met her.”

(Dec 2018) Anonymous parent: “We were becoming increasingly worried about our 13 year old daughter and the way she seemed to be saddened a lot of the time, especially with the challenges of school. We were recommended to contact Marie from another parent whose son Marie had worked with. Our daughter was nervous to meet Marie for the first time, but she was able to gain her trust and build rapport with my daughter very quickly. Through the several sessions that followed, we saw our daughter become noticeably more content overall. She naturally still has difficult days but they don’t seem to affect her as deeply as before and she seems more able to ‘bounce back’ and get a balanced perspective more quickly. Our daughter says that Marie has taught her to be kinder to herself in the way that she thinks and we’re pleased and relieved that this way of thinking has been sustained since our daughter stopped seeing Marie. She is highly insightful, emotionally generous and supportive and we’re so grateful for the way she has helped our daughter.”

(Sept 2018) Anonymous parent: “Marie was superb with our teenage son and his GCSEs – our only regret is that we didn’t get her involved sooner. She helped bring order to a chaotic exam schedule covering many subjects, made sense of priorities for revision and steered him in the right direction based on his own gut feelings and previous results. Exams are an extremely stressful time for all teenagers and it felt like he couldn’t see the wood for the trees because of the amount of work. So, it was reassuring for both our son and us to get someone like Marie involved. With the right mix of understanding coupled with a straightforward, no-nonsense approach, Marie was able to help bring clarity back to the situation and enable him to focus on the subjects that it was important for him to do well in. And, we’re pleased to say, he did do well!”

(July 2018) Rebecca Brook: “Marie was a mentor to my friend, and I saw how much she helped him. She was very reliable to work with his issues until they were solved. I appreciated her persistence, because it helped him to think more positively about his future and having a new career. Thank you very much Marie.”

(June 2017) Maggie Weston: “Marie is fantastic I recommend her highly, without her I don’t think my son would would be the person he is. Marie has helped him deal with bulling issues he’s had at school, the loss of confidence this caused him and shown him how to deal with the situation and I am sure without her he wouldn’t be a happy smiling person he is again.”

(April 2017) Sian Sayce – First Class Hons Paramedic: “Without Marie, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Imagine you have just failed your first set of AS exams at college, you’re behind on all your coursework and you have absolutely no idea what you want to do with your life … Then you walk into your mothers bedroom one evening to find that she’s suddenly died.
At that point, I was lost, scared, frustrated, and devastated. Marie was the person I thought to go to for help. At the time, I didn’t know that that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. Even throughout my journey through uni, Marie has kept in touch to lend a hand. Words can’t describe how much I recommend Marie. If you’re stuck, make the decision I made 4 years ago, contact Marie and you’d wish you did it sooner.”

(April 2017) Alex Palmer – BA (Hons) Fitness Management and Personal Training: “During my time at college I spent a great deal of time in hospital and as a result, I began to fall behind with my studies. When I returned to college I was assigned a mentor; I was very fortunate to be assigned Marie. From the very beginning Marie was empathetic to my situation and I remember feeling she really cared about me and my success. The more I met with Marie the more my anxiety subsided and I quickly got back on track with my studies. Marie provided me with considerable help and support which enabled me to flourish. Marie motivated me to accomplish more than I ever thought I could, which meant my plans to go to university could come to fruition.”

(April 2017) CG: “The support I got from Marie was incredible. She supported me through depression, self harm and bad eating behaviours. She was always encouraging and that then motivated me to carry on and not stop believing in myself. She was always there for me when I needed any support and she helped me as much as she could. Since the first time I spoke to Marie, one year ago, my life has changed and I am a different person.”

(April 2017) Polly Macan: As a mentor, Marie was extremely easy to talk to and very welcoming. She helped me with a number of things, including my university UCAS applications and my interviews. Initially, I found tasks such as writing my personal statement very hard and disheartening, Marie made me take a step back and think about what I really wanted to say, her way of simplifying everything made the process less daunting and much more manageable. Marie also helped me with my university interviews. Prior to the interviews, among other things, Marie asked me to think about what I would want the interviewers to remember about me after it was over, and what I could say to show them these things. This meant I left the interviews feeling like I had done the best I could have. She also accompanied me to my interviews, I found her company to be very relaxing and positive, something I had not found in my parent’s company! She was quietly encouraging and felt like your number one supporter. I would recommend Marie to anyone who felt like they needed some guidance and support in order to achieve something.”

(April 2017) Maria Metzger: “During my time at college I was fortunate enough have Marie as a mentor. Marie helped me to prioritise my workload when I was studying a BTEC, AS Level and Extended Project Qualification. This helped me develop my time management skills which I utilised even once I had finished college and was studying at University. Her input was valuable when applying for University which made my personal statement and application stand out, helping me secure a place at my first choice of Universities. On numerous occasions Marie was able to offer advice and help problem solve with both academic and personal difficulties. Marie is very approachable and has a wealth of experience which makes her a great mentor.”

(April 2017) Lara Washbrook; “Marie was an excellent support for me when I was at college. She helped me in one of my lowest times, going above and beyond and dedicating her time and expertise to assist me. I don’t know where I would be now without her. Marie has helped me reach goals which I would never have completed without her support; the tools I have learnt from her have been invaluable, meaning I have used them both in personal and educational ways.  Marie gave me advice on my future plans and went out of her way to identify and research potential courses that I could do. This helped so much and meant I received the qualifications I needed to proceed with my career. She helped me grow as a person, which in turn, improved my self-confidence which allowed me to tackle personal issues more effectively. She is an amazing mentor and I feel very lucky to have been introduced to her.”
